[Mix] NAP DNB presents NAPCast 178 – RinTin

by Courtney LaFavor

What is up party people!? Welcome back to yet another life affirming episode of the NAPCast. I know that without us, your week would get off to a subpar start, and you would struggle over-coming even the smallest of difficulties. Despair and longing would set upon you, rendering you a crippled shell of your former, drum and bass infused self. Basically you become Artax in The Neverending Story. And I know the cloudy fall weather this past week has made it feel like you’re living in the Swamp of Sadness, but I promise you this week’s mix will you pull you out more than alive!

RinTin is back and checking off his second NAPCast! A long time veteran fan of all forms of dance music, he’s spent the last decade dedicating himself to drum and bass and uses his UStream show, The Unnecessary Mix, to stay connected to the genre as it grows. I had a really good time with his submission. RinTin drops just about all my “must have” liquid jams and laces them with bits of techstep and neurofunk, even the stuff I get into (haha). The progression between levels of aggression and sensitivity is seamless. There’s a good balance between danceability and “rail riding’ headbanging sessions too! No matter what subgenre he’s working with, there’s an undeniable groove that RinTin keeps driving the whole way through that is highly satisfying. Hopefully this hour and change unshackles your weary soul and you can go forth into reality and take on any challenges foolish enough to face you! We believe in you!
