[Mix] NAP DNB presents NAPCast 145 - Hajimari

Happy Monday my dedicated Junglists! Once again we find ourselves dreading the week ahead and longing for the freedom of weekends. Alas, such is adult life and the never ending grind of real life and responsibility. The good news is you can always depend on NAP DNB to fill your Mondays with goodness in the forms of soundwaves for your ear holes. NAPCast 145 promises so many soundwaves. All different shapes and sizez! My happiness today is a hold over from last week’s Melody Inn night with DJ SS and Bladerunner. If you were kind enough to join us last week, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The vibes and a BUNCH of new faces, definitely gave me some hope of a growing of the ranks around town, which can only make us a stronger more vibrant scene. And speaking of new growth and vibrancy, this week’s NAPCast comes from another newcomer, Hajimari.

Coming in at the ripe age of 20, this DJ/producer is already catching the ears of some of the heaviest names around the game. Noisia has played a tune of his remixed by Zero T, so you know right off that this kid knows a thing or two about some head banging. I went into this mix with high expectations having already heard some really solid reports from a few others, plus thumbs up on the remix. I was not disappointed. There were moments when things went past my threshold for roughneck bangers, but from start to finish the final product has registered high marks toward my annual “top 10” list. Great mix of old tunes and newer stuff, even his own pieces, some of which I hear are unreleased. The path to total destruction was so smooth, that getting my ears pounded in wasn’t nearly as offensive as it could have been. Forgiveness was earned when he rounds things back out as he heads into jazzy licks and techy breaks. He has given me hope upon hope that Midwest drum and bass is not headed for a complete age-out of it’s supporters. I hear whispers from promoters around the states and the consensus is there is an uptick in young ears again. The kids are hungry for variety, for the unusual and distinct after years of being fed commercialized dubstep. And we are happy to serve it up for them! I for one am happy to welcome another human to this weird world and am stoooooked for you guys to hear what he can do! Between him and Sweater Disco, Indy is lookin in pretty fine shape in terms of young bloods keeping the dance floors happy.
