Another Monday has come, and another sampling of the many shades of drum and bass have been dropped on us. And rain, lots more rain. So, in order to entertain you while you load up the pontoon boats and arch’s, we will once again share this week’s gift with you. We’re giving you Jack Schitt.
This week’s NAPCast builds really well on what DJ Hizer started last week. The attention to drum work through out these songs, highlights the fact that we like two styles of music, DRUMS and the bass. In some circumstances and over time, it seems that more attention gets paid to fat bass lines, and intricate drum edits can sometimes go over looked.
Roots says it best on the opening of this one: it’s a fat jazzy mix. Literally, some of the best jazz drumming and piano samples I’ve heard. Sometimes surprising, always satisfying. When Jack Schitt drops out the bass completely and let’s those drums ride out for what seems like eternity, my heart literally skipped beats to keep time. Purely brilliant. Keeping things interesting is what dnb has always done best; it’s the champion sound!! So go forth, rudebois and gals, jazz up your Monday .
