What’s up everybody!? Hope nobody got tricked too badly yesterday and that your sugar hangover isn’t too terrible this morning. And if you do happen to find yourself still stuck in a chocolate induced coma, NAPDNB is here with the dnb beats that will sustain and revive your spirit, just like the Easter Bunny did for Jesus. And just like your Easter basket, this mix is a little of everything, maybe even some of those marshmallow Peeps you hate; I dunno about your candy preferences, but there’s something inside here for everyone.
This week’s submission is from another first timer, and former Indiana resident, DJ Ricky B. Moving to Denton Texas as a kid, Ricky B is now making it his duty to spread the joy of dance music to the Denton masses. Much like NAPDNB, it’s a family affair with his production crew, DTXDNB, and holds it down with his wife while they support DJs with talent in multiple genres. Lucky kids just recently saw The Prototypes and Sam Binga in the same evening, so I know they not only have rad taste, but had a killer time. Ricky B’s mix builds and rolls through dark, mysterious liquid (with some high energy peaks) with drama building all the way to a pretty sweet Johnny Cash singing “Hurt” mashup. This is probably one of my favorite covers of all time, and I thought the mix Ricky B did with it added the right bit of “something”. Things get techier and heavier from there on out. If you were still finding it hard to over come the sugar shakes, the second half of this mix should drive it right out of ya. Really, by the end, you should feel adequately sugared up again, without all the gross actual sugar in the way! Welcome back to reality kids, make it your bitch!
